About
Hi, I'm Taylor.
I'm a percussion educator, consultant, and curriculum designer based in North Texas. I help schools, educators, and students build stronger percussion programs through thoughtful instruction, practical curriculum, and meaningful musical experiences.
Since 2012 I've taught percussion in Texas band programs at every classification — 6A programs competing at Bands of America, and 4A programs building from very little. Percussion director, assistant drumline director, front ensemble tech, and the person a program calls when a section has stalled.
The work is the same every time: rebuild the section, write the curriculum, and leave behind systems that outlast whoever is standing on the podium.
I'm currently taking consulting, clinic, and private lesson work across North Texas.

Also
Percussion coordinator for region and district bands — TMEA Regions 2 and 30, and ATSSB Region 5/30. I also run beginner placement testing for programs each year, and take regular clinic and guest instruction across Texas, including North Shore Senior High School's indoor drumline in Houston. Quad section leader with Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps, and two PASIC titles with the Flower Mound High School drumline.
Education
BA in Music, concentration in Percussion — University of North Texas.
What I also build
Outside of teaching, I build free practice tools for percussionists — metronomes, counting trainers, rudiment references, and keyboard-percussion apps — at Backwerd Rhythm Shop. They come out of the same place the lessons do: students learn faster when the tool in front of them is clear.
